MINNEAPOLIS, MN | October 15, 2025 – Leeann Chin, the Minnesota-founded quick-casual restaurant brand that made the Cream Cheese Puff famous, is turning 45 this month. To celebrate nearly five decades of culinary favorites and generations of loyal guests, participating locations will offer an order of Cream Cheese Puffs for just 45¢ during their Anniversary Week, Monday, October 20 through Sunday, October 26.
The Cream Cheese Puff has been a menu favorite since the earliest days of Leeann Chin. When a crab delivery didn’t arrive for the restaurant’s Crab Rangoon, Leeann innovated, filling the wontons with cream cheese and adding a blend of savory ingredients, including garlic and other secret flavors, to create the unique taste we know today. Diners loved the crispy, golden puffs instantly, and over four decades later, they remain beloved and have influenced Chinese-American cuisine beyond the brand. Many other original recipes developed by Leeann Chin herself, including Lemon Chicken, Peking Chicken, Sesame Chicken, Vegetable Fried Rice, Oyster Wings, and Potstickers, are still on the menu today. While deeply rooted in Minnesota, the brand’s influence extends beyond the state, with 40 locations across the Twin Cities and select U.S. markets, including airports.
The 45th anniversary also marks a renewed focus on Leeann Chin’s future. Under the local operational leadership of Executive Vice President Liz Grzechowiak, the brand is strengthening its team, enhancing operations, and thoughtfully evolving the menu with additions like Wagyu Spring Rolls and Korean BBQ Steak. These initiatives combine a continued commitment to culinary quality with operational discipline, positioning Leeann Chin for continued growth and relevance in Minnesota and beyond.

As a continued thank-you, ongoing specials for loyalty members will extend beyond the anniversary week celebration, available through November 16.
